1 in 21 – Matthew 9:9-13

Jesus Calls Matthew

As Jesus passed on from there, he saw a man called Matthew sitting at the tax booth, and he said to him, “Follow me.” And he rose and followed him.

10 And as Jesus[a] reclined at table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were reclining with Jesus and his disciples. 11 And when the Pharisees saw this, they said to his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” 12 But when he heard it, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. 13 Go and learn what this means: ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’ For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

Sermon Discussion Questions

1. How did you do with the 2020 challenge (inviting 20 people to church in 2020)? Did you participate? Did you invite anyone to church in 2020? Why or why not? ( Letting you know that I have invited 17 this last year. Obviously, I need to invite 3 more before the end of the year.)
2. Is there someone around you that needs Christ? Would you mind sharing with this group who the One person is that you want to share Christ with and for others to be praying with you for that individual to accept Him this year?
3. What avenues do you “pass by” where you can share your faith? Share some ideas.
4. Do you think Jesus was looked down upon because of who he associated with? Are you at times? Might you have an experience that others looked down on you because of who you were hanging around with?
5. What stops you from sharing your faith?
6. When did you decide to follow Jesus? Did you have a major life transformation that took place?
7. Do you do a better job of staying in the Christian huddle or mingling with unbelievers? Are you maintaining a healthy balance or can you improve to one side or the other?

We did in deed have a lot of inconvenience this year along with that we had many blessings and renewed strength. Good to see you are feeling well again.
