Sermon Discussion Questions

1. How is everyone doing with these disciplines? Be encouraged, don’t be discouraged. God is strengthening you. The enemy doesn’t want us to grow in these areas. He wants us to flounder.
2. When you think of fasting, what have you been taught about fasting in previous days? Have you fasted and if so, in what capacities?
3. Do you believe that Jesus is expecting us to fast according to Matthew 6? If you do, why have so many Christians neglected this discipline?
4. If we do fast, how do we make it private without drawing too much attention to ourselves?
5. If someone has an ongoing medical condition, how do we fast without giving ourselves further complications?
6. Is there a meal or day that you can choose in the next 2 weeks to spend fasting?
7. What do you believe about the rewards of fasting? Does this spur you on to fast, or do you doubt the reward?
